Caltrans lists the project in its construction phase. One-way traffic control is scheduled to begin Aug. 10, 2026 and continue through November. A 21-day full closure of the bridge is targeted for after Labor Day weekend in September 2027.

Replace the 1929 bridge, widen the culvert to the north, add wider shoulders, ADA-compliant sidewalk and curb ramps, and add a crosswalk at Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. The Papermill Creek Trail entrance near the bridge will close when work begins; the C Street entrance will remain open.

What to watch

Project completion targeted for summer 2028: The schedule includes winter suspension, construction resuming in spring 2027 and plant-establishment work through summer 2028.
