PR2050 Vision Project
Summary
Those of us who live, work, and visit Point Reyes Station choose to take part in life here because of theunique, caring community that has been nurtured over decades. We believe the future of this inclusive and thriving community should be determined by those with the greatest stake in the Point Reyes area: residents and employees, as well as our many visitors.
We are now launching the PR2050 Vision Project, an initiative vital to our community. Through this project, we will learn from residents of all ages, employees, business owners, nonprofit leaders, and visitors what they believe makes a thriving Point Reyes for all. What hopes do they hold for calling this home, a place for employment, and a visitor-friendly destination? What do they need and want to continue calling this home and a place for employment? How do these answers vary by age and circumstance? And how do these answers help us build a strong community and strengthen our local governance?
Purpose
We are aware and recognize that Marin County is embarking on a visioning project for West Marin. PR2050 is not meant to replace nor duplicate the County’s effort. Rather, PR2050 is intended to complement the County’s effort, empowering us to connect and learn from people in a way that will build our strength as neighbors, coworkers, and community.
Through the PR2050 Vision Project, we will invite everyone—residents, employees, business owners, nonprofit leaders, and visitors—to participate in shaping our shared future. By working together, we will create a collective vision that inspires and guides Point Reyes for generations to come.
Our goals for PR2050:
● Develop community-driven outcomes
● Employ an integrated approach
● Learn through listening
● Strengthen local governance
Approach
PR2050 will learn through personal interview, light touch surveying, community gatherings, art interaction, and self-guided response. The goal with each method is to identify the issues facing individuals and families, reveal the collective knowledge in the community, and develop the road map for a resilient and thriving community.
