Kristin Drumm, Senior Planner of Marin County, will explain the proposed zoning changes affecting properties zoned VCR and in the Proposed Village Commercial Core Area.
The zoning changes favor development and the use of such properties for commercial and visitor-serving uses over residential use. This is a major change that is counter to our Community Plan and directly affects historic homes that fall within the proposed boundaries. Here’s an overview of retail/commercial uses that are permitted in the VCR without a use permit under the proposed amendments: o Agriculture o Grocery stores o Furniture & furnishings o Liquor stores o Restaurants (up to 40 patrons) o General retail merchandise o Banks & ATMs o B&Bs (up to 3 guest rooms) o Business support services o Child day care o Offices & personal services o Maintenance & repair of consumer products Below is a draft from the county planning office showing the affected zone. All are encouraged to show up for the Board of Supervisors' hearing on Tuesday, April 19th, 1:30 pm, in the Board of Supervisors' Chambers (Room #330 - Administration Building), Marin County Civic Center, San Rafael, California.
