Hello PRSVA Voting Members
The Leadership Group would like you to be aware of an upcoming agenda item at our next meeting, scheduled for Thursday October 11 at 6:30. At our last meeting we made a motion to support the TOT initiative on the ballot this fall. As a community organization with membership including residents, property owners, business groups and non profits within the Point Reyes boundary we recognize the impacts and difficulties of finding affordable housing and see the TOT revision as a fair first step toward helping to solve the problem. After discussion within the Leadership Group we would like to ask for approval by the membership to publicly endorse the motion passed at our meeting.. Here is the language of the motion approved by the membership at our September meeting Motion introduced by Mark Switzer The Point Reyes Station Village Association fully supports Measure W which institutes an additional 4% Transit Occupancy Tax on all short term rentals in West Marin. The revenue generated will be designated for emergency services and affordable housing in West Marin. In conjunction with Marin County's plans to identify and regulate short term rentals, these initial measures are important steps to address the impacts of ever increasing visitation to the area. Thank you Laura Arndt PRSVA Sec. POINT REYES STATION VILLAGE ASSOCIATION
